Yahoo & Bing Search Engine Optimization
Yahoo and Bing SEO.
Does it pay off to compete for the first spot in Yahoo or Bing (former msn)?
for 2011 about 82% of all the searches are done through Google search engine. About 6% through Yahoo. And Bing (former MSN) takes about 3% of the market. This data is not 100% accurate, but you get the idea. If you want to get any kind of volume of visitors on your web site through search engine marketing, do not count on too much trafic from Yahoo or Bing. Google and Yahoo and Bing have different algorithms (formulas) to deliver search results. Yahoo and Bing are much easier to manipulate and that is why more and more people use Google as their first choice for searching the web. Google has more complicated way of filtering the results and it said to be using about 200 different criteria to determine the relevancy of the website. The main difference, as of writing this article, between Google and Yahoo algorithms, is Yahoo relies more havily on on-page factors to rank a website, such as domain name, meta tags, content of the page, and Google relies more on the off-page factors - mainly on quantity and quality of backlinks (links that have your website as a reference). Yahoo and Bing search engines are a couple of years behind Google and everything that you do to optimize your website in Google will bring you results in Yahoo and Bing, some time down the road. The goal of search engine marketing should be to rank high in Google, and high ranking in Yahoo and Bing will follow.
